It was built by Dukatin Yovanov, who was so named because of his wealth in ducats. Later, through the great-granddaughter of the builder, the house passed into the hands of Pop Strashko, from the prosperous Kumanovo family of the Bogdanovi. The home produced remarkable people: Pop Strashko's son Momchilo Bogdanov became a professor of electrical engineering in Skopje, his daughter Vukosava a scientist in the field of nuclear medicine, and the journalist Branko Trichkovski was born in these rooms.

The architecture is authentic: adobe brick (kerpich) and timber, a spacious two-storey building with high ceilings, built-in cupboards, and a bathroom. The entrance corridor – the "gizentiya" (from the Turkish word "gezinti", meaning "walk" or "corridor") – leads guests to the room where Pop Strashko kept his hiding place. Up the wooden stairs is an enclosed çardak and a bedroom converted into a fashion salon. A distinctive feature of this house is the hamamlaks, which still exist today.

Just like the Popgyorgina House, the house of Pop Strashko has an identical wooden construction and window form, corresponding to this same element in the Lazarkova and Bogdanova houses in Dupnitsa, and the Popnikolova house in Kyustendil.
