Project BGMK0200027 – "CULTURAL AREA – CULTURAL heritage community and AttRactive all-sEAson tourism" has been launched under Call 1 of the Territorial Strategy, Priority 3 "Integrated development of the cross-border region", INTERREG VI-A IPA Bulgaria – North Macedonia 2021–2027 Programme. Under the project, Sofia University "St. Kliment Ohridski" is responsible, at the expert and logistical level, for the implementation of the soft measures envisaged in the activities.
The project's lead partner is the "Acad. Yordan Ivanov" Regional History Museum, with the participation of the Municipal History Museum – Dupnitsa, the City Museum – Kriva Palanka and the NGO "Peonija" – Kratovo, Republic of North Macedonia, and with the support of the Municipality of Kyustendil.
The activities will be carried out over a period of two years. The grant funding for the project's implementation amounts to EUR 984,870.01, and its main goal is to stimulate the development of tourism by creating an attractive tourist product capable of drawing visitors in all seasons. An equally important aspect is the preservation of cultural heritage through investment in sites of value to the cultural and historical urban environment of the region. The project will contribute to strengthening regional cooperation through joint work between Bulgaria and North Macedonia, fostering good-neighborly relations, cultural connectivity and an improved quality of life for the local population through the creation of new cultural events and a variety of activities.
