Implementation has begun on the project "CULTURAL AREA – CULTURAL heritage community and AttRactive all-sEAson tourism", funded under Call 1 of the Territorial Strategy, Priority 3 "Integrated development of the cross-border region", INTERREG VI-A IPA Bulgaria – North Macedonia 2021–2027 Programme.
Valentin Debochichki, Director of the Regional History Museum in the town below Hisarlaka, shared that the realization of this project is a long-held dream that is finally coming true.
"Over the years, and across various projects, things were never brought to a finished state. Now, with this house museum, we have the opportunity to do everything – to achieve what for many museum sites is almost a luxury: to welcome our visitors into a fully restored house, to keep them warm, and to offer all the new, modern interactive elements," Debochichki said.
"I thank Mr. Debochichki and his team, because this is the right approach – when the municipality and the regional cultural institutions work together, the results are visible.
It is extremely important to me that the Municipality of Kyustendil, as a tourist destination, is committed to cultural and historical tourism, which is why we are moving precisely in this direction.
Kyustendil is a city with more than two thousand years of history and a settlement with over eight millennia of continuous habitation, and we have much to show," stated Eng. Ognyan Atanasov, Mayor of the Municipality of Kyustendil.
The project brings together traditions and innovation, past and future, turning cultural heritage into a living resource for the development of the region.
