Each year on 9 March, wreath-laying ceremonies in the town squares of Dupnitsa and Kyustendil commemorate the Rescue of the Bulgarian Jews from the Holocaust. Organised by the Municipalities of Dupnitsa and Kyustendil, the observance honours the courage that saved a nation's Jewish community. Residents, students and visitors gather to remember one of the most humane chapters in Bulgarian history.
