Each year on 31 January, the town square of Dupnitsa fills with a festive procession marking the Liberation of Dupnitsa, followed by a wreath-laying ceremony at the Monument to the Fallen Volunteers (Opalchentsi) and a historical reenactment. Organised by the Municipality of Dupnitsa and the History Museum – Dupnitsa, the celebration also presents traditional recipes from the Dupnitsa region. It welcomes tourists, residents and students to blend remembrance with local flavour.
